Igote-uchi Archer's hand strike killing Matsukaze at the lower throat just beneath the adam's apple ( Igote-uchi (射籠手打ち) actually means a strike with the Archer's handguard and refers to the drawing action of a bow thus pulling the opponent into the throat strike.) 逆絞  Gyaku jime    Reverse choke

Then applies te-oshikoroshi crushing grip choke (grasp in the right hand the throat, thumb just under adam's apple and close the fist to choke. It's a one hand 'choke'.) Apply Igote-hikiake Archer's hand drawing from this grip rather sharply (Igote-hikiake (射籠手引き開ける) the term 'ake(ru)' actually means “pulling open” so it refers to a pulling motion that resembles an Archer's drawing of a bow thus applying more pressure to the opponent's throat.) Body turn from this grip (on wrist and throat) to drop him on his back.

A separate variation form of Itteki jime uses kumade-oshikoshi raking hand crush instead of the other choke grip (one grips either side of the adam's apple at the arteries.)

無刀捕ノ型  Muto Dori Gata    Capturing Without a Sword

These are Tachi-dori sword disarms, practiced empty handed against a bokken and so sometimes it is called simply 'Tachi-dori'. The list of techniques here, under various names, is used for various weapons disarms. The very same list of techniques gets called Kodachi-dori when against a short sword (or could be called wakizashi-dori in some circles), Tanto-dori (or kogusoku-dori) when used against a knife, Chōhō-dori when against long guns, Tanjū-dori when against a pistol. The very same list appears for handling weapons such as the Te-uchi palm stick, Sensu paper fan or Tessen iron fan, Jutte iron truncheon and etc. Then the list of technques is again called by such names as Te-uchi-dori, Sensu-dori and etc. When this list of techniques is performed under disadvantage against a superior weapon (short sword against longsword, for example) it is called Kodachi-sabaki-gata. Or Tessen-sabaki-gata when iron fan is used against either short sword or long sword. All such Sabaki-gata of these techniques are used disadvantaged against a superior weapon (so the tanto-sabaki-gata might be in practice a wooden knife against a mock pistol, for example.) In some way all of this is Muto dori gata, as the name implies being disadvantaged without a longsword yourself. Meaning that there is obvious disadvantage. There are many things here in this book named or unnamed (unlisted) which are Muto dori gata and so belong to this subject in the schools of this art.

一文字  Ichimonji    Straight Line

So called because it traces the path of the letter 'one' with the feet as an escape path from the blade. Making insignificant the power of the sword (pun on words in Japanese language, 一文 ichimon means “insignificant thing”.) A gate through which one enters wisely (pun on words in Japanese language, 一門 also pronounced ichimon means “(a/one) gate” but can be translated as “sect, school, division, family”. So the entire remark could be translated instead: “... wisely one enters a school (of this art.)” meaning that techniques like these rob the opponent of the superior advantage they possessed.) Uke/uchidachi (attacker) and tori/shidachi (defender) stand facing each other about sansoku ma'ai (three step distance.) This is to say that both men must take three steps to reach each other. Uke draws his sword, and along with tori advances okuri ashi with the sword at middle guard chuden, raising the sword to dai-jodan (sword held over the head in preparation to strike.) Uke (attacker) completes the step and strikes at tori's (attacker's) head jodan uchi.

Tori (defender) steps behind uike's leg with his right foot and performs ashi gari'ire leg reap out to drop the attacker. Tori (defender) retreives the sword and holds uke at bay.

URA-HŌ (“Outer method”) is a variation that puts the wind at the back of your sails, and so sometimes this version of the technique is called (pun on words in Japanese language, pronounced the same 裏帆 uraho means “aback; back-wind; sail with back-winds” and is the other name for the technique.) Tori (defender) steps the other way inside the attack thus placing the sword behind him, reaches over with his left hand and performs te-sabaki tsuka gyakko (手捌き柄逆行) hand manipulating sword hilt reversing movement. Tori then turns the sword point holding uke at bay. GYAKU URA HŌ (“Reverse outer method”) Tori (defender) instead has stepped outside the attack thus placing the sword behind him, reaches around behind himself with his left hand and performs kataha ryote gake single wing both arms hooking. Cincing uke's (attacker's) two arms somewhat together between his own arm and body, uke is immediately behind him, tori using his right hand to secure the hilt of the sword te-sabaki tsuka tori'ai (手捌き柄取合い) hand manipulation hilt capture.
