The text is from a Modern late 20th Century reproduction of the 1913 text, a copy of which had become available in the "Public Domain". Depending on what (Japanese) sources are consulted, either the Sekiguchi ryū is an alternative form of the Yōshin ryū (including of the Akiyama lines) or is a profound relative of that kind of school. Some forms of Yōshin ryū are descended from it (they are often self described as being "Sekiguchi ryū renamed to Yōshin ryū". There is a listing found in the back of the Judo Tai-i of the schools that contribted to Kano Jujutsu and its Early Kodokan Jūdō in which the Sekiguchi ryū was found to be listed (the Appendix at page 97). This makes the text a bit more interesting and relevant to the collection, which is why we added it. |
