Please take note that this text was popularized in the writings of several early 20^th century authors, from references made to it by Japanese Sensei of Judo and later both Japanese and Okinawan Karate. The book is fairly well known, but is often confused as being a text on early Okinawan type Karate-jutsu. The text is not that kind of Karate (confusion caused by usage of the term 'Karate' in the title itself) it is instead a general text on Jujutsu based fighting arts and quite specifically it is Goshinjutsu. This form of Goshinjutsu is not necessarily from the same genre as the Goshinjutsu of the other text(s) we translated (such as the Shinden Goshinjutsu Shinshin Tanren Kiai Oyo), but does have strong similarity. However, some sources do indicate that this text (the Karate Goshin Hujutsu) was commonly used by Japanese and Okinawan Karate systems as well. Unlike the other text on Goshinjutsu which is ryuha specific, this book is apparently a general address text that does not necessarily represent the specific practices of a school itself. Until now there was no ready translation of this book ever made, to my knowledge. The subjects of Kiai-jutsu and Aiki-jutsu are somewhat addressed in the text, as is the auxiliary art called Ninjutsu. It is mistaken to think that this ninjutsu is the modern martial art by the same name, it is certainly not. The ninjutsu addressed in this text is the pre-modern 19th century and early 20th century “art of escape and evasion” used to flee an enemy, for example. Many older texts like this (and the systems they represent) included this auxiliary art (and most usually by this same name) due to pre and post war sentiments in the schools of artifice at the time (likelihood of the continuation of war). This auxiliary art ninjutsu was thought possibly useful due to the events of the Pre-amble wars and both World Wars.
